“As Pandora slowly opened the box, all the evils of the
world came out. But in this case, When
Andrea, Thembakhazi and Xoliswa opened their boxes, they found something
amazing.”
Andrea Beyers was the lucky recipient of a three year paid
bursary valued at R150 000.00 to study Fashion Design at North West School of
Design. This bursary was handed to her
last year, as South Africa’s most loved and favourite designer, Gert-Johan
Coetzee launched a competition, whereby she was selected as the nationwide
winner.
Bernina South Africa also came aboard, and sponsored her
with a Bernina b330 sewing machine valued at just under R23000.00.
Xoliswa Kawuzela won the Fashion Communication Bursary also
courtesy of Gert-Johan Coetzee and Bernina and received her Bernette Chicago 5
sewing machine valued roughly at just under R10 000.00
Another lucky winner, was Thembakhazi Stokwe, who walked
away as bursary winner, courtesy of the upmarket, Luminance brand, and she also
received her sewing machine.
Speaking to the students, they all seem so excited about
their prize, and one of them was even so happy and confused at the same time,
she did not know, which was the sewing machine and which the overlocker.
Bernina South Africa, has always been on the forefront to
help the bursary students with their machines as part of their prizes, and
North West School of Design would like to thank them for their generous
sponsorship for the past six years.
